Your bedroom is the first thing you see in the morning and the last thing you see at night. It should feel calm. The wall behind the bed

The wall behind the bed is the natural place to start. Wall paneling behind the bed works as a headboard that runs the full height of the room, with no separate headboard to buy. Panel the full wall for a hotel-like feel, or center three or four panels behind the bed to frame it. Vertical slats draw the eye up and make the ceiling feel higher. Add a pair of wall lamps on the panels and you have bedside lighting without wires across the wall.

Bedroom accent wall ideas

Not every bedroom needs a headboard wall. Some of our favorite bedrooms use panels on the wall opposite the bed, around a window or on a sloped ceiling. A warm oak tone feels close to nature and works with linen and soft textiles. Darker finishes create a cozy, enclosed feel, which is good in a large room. Colored panels in soft, muted tones bring calm without the coldness of a painted wall. Browse the photos above to see what’s possible.

A quieter room for better rest

Hard surfaces make a bedroom sound bigger and colder than it is. The felt backing behind every Akupanel absorbs sound, with Class A sound absorption. It takes the edge off footsteps, voices from the next room and the hum of the street. The room sounds softer, and that makes it easier to wind down at the end of the day.

Nursery wall panels that grow with your child

A nursery changes fast. Wall panels give the room a calm, warm base that still works when the cot becomes a bed and the bed becomes a desk. Create accessories clip between the slats without tools or holes, so you can add shelves, hooks for small jackets or playful Liva covers, and move them up the wall as your child grows. Our wood-like Akupanels have a surface you can wipe clean with a damp cloth, which helps in a room with small hands.

Make your bedroom work harder

Bedrooms are often short on storage. Add shelves for books by the bed, a rail for tomorrow’s clothes or a mirror, all mounted straight onto the panels. Soft Lumi LED light glowing out from behind the wall gives you a gentle evening light that’s easier on the eyes than a ceiling lamp.
