A finished basement is extra living space you already own. Basement wall panels turn bare walls into a warm room you want to spend time in, whether it’s a family room, a home cinema, a gym or a guest room. Explore basements built with WoodUpp and see what’s possible below ground.

From storage space to living space

Many basements have one thing in common: bare walls, low ceilings and little daylight. Wall panels give the room warmth and structure in one step. Vertical slats make a low ceiling feel higher. A light finish keeps a room without windows bright, and darker tones make a basement cinema or bar feel cozy and intimate.

Ideas for your basement

Turn the basement into a family room with a panel wall behind the sofa and the TV. Build a home cinema with panels on the side and back walls. Set up a home gym, a music room or a guest room with a wall that feels finished. Add shelves, hooks and lighting from our Create accessories to make the room work without extra furniture. See the photos above for basements in real homes.

A better sound below ground

Basements are often concrete and tile, and they echo. The felt backing on every Akupanel absorbs sound with Class A sound absorption. That makes a big difference in a room used for films, music, games or a gym.

Before you start - check the room

Akupanels are made for dry, heated indoor spaces. Before you install, make sure the basement is dry, the walls are free of damp and the room is heated like the rest of the house. Mount the panels on drywall, brick or wooden battens.
